PM RETIRED DAY AT CONVENTION!!

COME TO RETIREES' AT THE NAPUS STATE CONVENTION ON FRIDAY, JUNE 4, 2010!!!    for more details

A CALL TO ACTION!

RETIREES HEALTH BENEFITS

To all Postmasters Retired:

Recently, in the course of committee debates over health care reform, several members of the U.S. Senate have introduced various amendments that, if included in reform legislation, could have serious negative effects on the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program (FEHBP).

NAPUS retirees should contact their Senators ASAP with the following clear message:  "I urge you to OPPOSE any amendment that would force FEHBP participants into a new health insurance program, or that would extend FEHBP enrollment eligibility to a new, high-risk population pool.  Such measures would only severely destabilize a currently successful and efficient program, and result in dramatically higher premiums."  In simple terms: Hands off the FEHBP!  (But be polite.)

Federal/postal employees and retirees MUST make clear to all Senators that such meddling in our health insurance programs does not get included in any proposals for reforming health insurance coverage for the rest of the citizenry.  It is not part of the problem; it should not be mistakenly thought to be part of the solution.

Don't take your insurance benefits for granted.  They can disappear in a moment, if we (YOU) are not vigilant.

Thanks for your action!

Buzz Snyder,
NAPUS Retiree Legislative Chair

NOTE FROM TED MCCORD

President Obama recently approved a 2% salary increase for all federal employees effective January 1, 2010.  Members of the executive, legislative and judicial branch are due for an automatic 20% pay increase in January as well.  All this on the backs of seniors who will not incur any COLA increases for several years.

For the first time in history, the Congress will not allow
an increase in the social security COLA (cost of living adjustment).

In fact, The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation predicts there may
not be any COLA for the next three years.

However, the per person monthly Medicare insurance premium, part B, will be increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to $104.20 in 2010 and to $120.20 for the year 2011.

Send this to all seniors you know. Remind them not to vote for any
incumbent senator or representative. The only way we can take this country back is to clean out those who have become career politicians and are driving our republic into the ground

RETIRED? HERE'S A WEBSITE FOR YOU

In the past 5 years, 185,000 employees have retired from the US Postal Service.

Many haven't lost interest in what's happening at the USPS and want to stay informed. So the Postal Service has creted a website, keepingposted.org with daily updates on what's goin on at the USPS. The site includes an archive of gthe USPS news releases, speeches, reports on stamp events and articles that appear in LINK.

Articles also feature accomplishments of retired employees. For example, check out the spotlight on postal retiree Lenora Clark, who is enjoying her retirement as one the top women in American boating. The site also contains health and wellness tips, links to other useful websites, and information about how retirees can volunteer their services in their communities.
